How Did the Vision of Owning Our Spiritual Home Begin?
As shared by Ps. Lawrence in our introductory message A Million Dreams, the seed of this vision was planted in 2008 when Uncle Eddie encouraged the church to pray and believe for a permanent place of worship. At that time, we were still holding our weekly services in the rented old Manning Hall in Manning, WA. Shortly after, we learned that the City of South Perth had plans to demolish Manning Hall as part of a new community hub development.
Though our church was growing, most of our congregation were international students, and our financial resources were limited. Owning a church building seemed like an ambitious dream—one that many found difficult to grasp. But where human limitations existed, God was already at work, stirring faith in our hearts.
A Vision Confirmed Through Faith
As we sought the Lord in prayer, He confirmed this vision to our leaders. With faith, we took the first step: launching a seed fund. What started as a small initiative soon grew, as our church family faithfully contributed through fundraising efforts, such as church lunch sales and other community-driven initiatives. Year after year, these efforts continued, demonstrating God’s provision and the unwavering faith of His people.
Walking in God’s Faithfulness
As the demolition of Manning Hall drew near, God led us to lease a hall at Leisurelife Centre in Victoria Park. Since 2012, this has been our home for weekly worship, and through every season, God has remained faithful. Despite the transitions, the mission of the Great Commission continued to thrive in our church.
We witnessed lives transformed by the gospel, and our congregation continued to grow, surpassing the 100-member milestone. Even more remarkably, our church experienced a shift—from being predominantly student-based to becoming a multi-generational community. Families, young professionals, and individuals from all walks of life found their spiritual home among us.
A Journey of Trust
Looking back, it is clear that God’s hand has guided us through every step. What once seemed impossible has become a journey of faith and obedience. The vision of owning our own church is more than just about acquiring a building—it is about establishing a spiritual legacy, a place where future generations will worship, grow, and carry forward the mission of Christ.
As we continue to walk this journey, we stand firm in the truth that God’s plans are always greater than our own. The story is still unfolding, and we invite everyone to be part of this incredible move of God. To Him be all the glory!
